Ableworld Donate Wheelchair to Theatre Severn in Shrewsbury

On the 6th February 2024, Ableworld Shrewsbury kindly donated an I-Lite travel chair to the Theatre Severn in Shrewsbury.

Theatre Severn is situated on Frankwell Quay making it a stunning riverside destination. They have been entertaining the residents of Shropshire for over 10 years showcasing a range of renowned theatre productions and musicals.

Emma a member of staff at our Shrewsbury store delivered the new wheelchair to the theatre who were grateful of the generous donation. It now means, the theatre can now supply more people with a wheelchair who attend their venue, we are delighted to know this means more people get to enjoy the incredible shows Theatre Severn present throughout the year.

It’s extremely important to everyone here at Ableworld that venues, near our Ableworld stores such as Theatre Severn, have access to vital mobility products that their customers can use at any time. What it means for our customers, is no matter where they may find themselves, support will be on hand to ensure they have the best experience possible.

We hope that the new wheelchair will serve the Theatre well, and we know this is not the last time we will help to improve the accessibility of the venue!

Ableworld Shrewsbury Visit Louise House in Shrewsbury

Recently, Ableworld Shrewsbury paid a visit to the Louise House in Shrewsbury on Friday 3rd November, where they hosted an event for Age UK. The Ableworld staff members in attendance managed to demonstrate a range of helpful products that could allow potential customers to live a more independent life.  

The event was successfully led by Ableworld Shrewsbury’s manager Cathy who had the pleasure of showing the newest member of the team Sarah how to conduct an event. Sarah learnt of the huge benefits customers receive from events like these, as it allows people who may be unable to reach our services through normal channels, the ability to benefit from our services and products alike.

Cathy said “Everyone at the Louise House in Shrewsbury were gracious towards myself and Sarah and allowed us to chat with those who wanted to listen, the reception we received was really positive and we hope it was of some benefit to those that came to see us.”

Cathy was pleased to see Sarah get involved with the demonstration and thought she was confident in her communication and approachability with everyone present at the event. It’s great to see a lot of people turn up to events like these, it means we know they are useful to the public ensuring that we carry on to host more in the future.

Its an exciting time at Ableworld Shrewsbury who are currently promoting the Christmas Crackers promotion in store, right now! Huge savings on some fantastic mobility products are available until the 2nd January.

In store we partaking in the poppy appeal to help raise funds for the Royal British Legion, offering out poppy’s as well as some amazing handmade crochet Poppys created by Sarah. Please come and say hello and get ready to celebrate Christmas with the Ableworld Shrewsbury team.

Ableworld Shrewsbury Easter Raffle

Here at Ableworld Shrewsbury we held an Easter Raffle to help pick up spirits and raise some money for a great cause!

Were happy to announce it was a huge success, there were lovely prizes to be won including a brand-new Leisure Trolley with seat. The amount of engagement that we received from our customers was outstanding, managing to put a smile on all our faces!

It has felt like such a long winter, that’s why we were so happy to see Spring come along and brighten up the day. We knew we had to take this opportunity to go and organise an event, that would get our customers involved as well as ear a bit of cash for a chosen charity.

It was the boost in spirits that we all needed!

We are delighted to announce that we raised a total of £100 for our chosen charity, Midlands Air Ambulance. They do such an incredible job and we wanted to show our appreciation by raising some money for them, we hope that our small contribution can help them carry on with such important work.

Midlands Air ambulance covers a large area operating in a total of 6 counties across the Midlands. They have 3 air ambulance helicopters and two critical care cars that are required to help them do their jobs. It costs them a lot of money to keep the three helicopters operational and we are delighted to donate some money towards their maintenance.

Ableworld Shrewsbury's Visit to Hadley Community Centre

On the 23rd February the Shrewsbury store hosted an event for the Breathe Easy Society at Hadley Community Centre. Our fantastic team that presented during the event was made up of Pete Jones and Cathy Thorold, they were delighted to see a great number of attendees who actively took part in the event.

Attendees were not to be disappointed either as Pete and Cathy took a wide range of products from the Shrewsbury store, attendees watched as Cathy and Pete demonstrated a range of our products. Not only did customers get to hear about the amazing benefits of each product but were able to see practical demonstrations of each item. Even allowing a few customers the chance to try them out for themselves!  

Our Shrewsbury team managed to impress many of the participants that took part in the event, we are glad to hear the knowledge of our staff is put to the test during these events. As a company it’s great to see the benefits of each event, especially when the participation and engagement from audiences is so positive. It means people are interested in learning about ways to help them live an independent life.

It is part of the reason why we encourage our stores to hold such events, as we want to ensure we reach as many people as possible. It is easy to forget the varied products and services Ableworld provide which help people stay mobile throughout the day. The positive affect we can have as a company is so apparent and it motivates us to push forward and help out where we can.

We want to thank every staff member for our Shrewsbury store for creating such a memorable and successful event. To Pete Jones, Cathy Thorold for hosting, as well as Lorna, Gavin and James who worked behind the scenes to make sure it ran like clockwork.

Its great to hear that since the event, our Shrewsbury store has had several attendees walk through our doors in search of a product! Its great to hear that customers are benefiting from events such as this one.
